Okay, I was looking for something fun and engaging to write about this week, so I happened upon the weird holidays of April page on line. Today was Rice Ball Day. Did you eat some? Tomorrow is National Kick Ball Day, a somewhat elementary sport that seems to have taken root with adults too.
This Friday, the 21st is National Silence Day. Hm ... Can you not speak a single word all day? I wouldn't make it, even alone, I talk to myself, the cat, the TV, the radio, the car and the idiot drivers around me. Silence? Nope. Oh wait, it is actually about the bullying of LGBT persons and students in schools/universities. Begun in 1996, it was to promote understanding rather than hatred or prejudice.
Saturday is International Marconi Day. Not Macaroni the pasta, but Marconi, the inventor of the radio and communications. Sunday is English Language Day. I guess, we need to support our native language, somehow, it might want to dissolve into another language just for fun.
Monday, the 24th is No Diaper Week. Yeah, let your babies and toddlers run naked and free! This one is definitely a commercial holiday like Grandparents day. I wonder if the Diaper industry has cards for the day, "Hey Mom! Look at me, I'm Naked! Happy No Nappies Day!" I hope you have plenty of bum-wipes!
Well, whatever floats your boat or gets you through the day, putting a smile on your face, then as they say, "just do it." Celebrate your own wacky and wonderful day of you. While you are at it, take a jaunt to a bookstore or library or dust off your own tomes and enjoy some poetry for April is also Poetry month.
"What is your substance, whereof are you made,
That millions of strange shadows on you tend?"
Recognize the verse?
Have a beautiful day enjoying life. CALS
(W.Shakespeare-Sonnet 53)
